Manhattan US Air Guitar Qualifier (ceci-n'est-pas-un) Recap

Last Friday, the Manhattan US Air Guitar Qualifier happened, and I know next to nothing about it! Here's what I do know:

  • It took place at Pioneers Bar
  • The judges were Justice Rocktor (my apologies for earlier calling him Juris Rocktor; that used to be his name, but he has leveled up), his wife, and Mathromancer (which is good, because it means the scores probably got tabulated instantly, in his calculator-like brain)
  • The show was hosted by your 2012 US Air Guitar Champion, Airistotle
  • Boston air guitar veteran (and human cloud of talcum powder) The Ghost of Operation Rockapussy, headed down to compete as well and had a strong showing
  • The winner was Mitt Umlaut, followed in second place by Smiley Rod (new?) and both will therefore be advancing to the rapidly-approaching NYC US Air Guitar Semi-Final on July 2
  • And my favorite tidbit of information, a walk-on from the Boston Qualifier, Killer K, who decided to compete here in Boston by overhearing Christian Science Monitor Lizard cajoling the bartender into competing (she did; her name was Dolly Dangerous) also decided to head down to NYC for the Manhattan Qualifier, because why not? Talk about getting the bug!
