Air Guitar World Championships Dark Horse Update

The Air Guitar World Championships have their own Dark Horse competition, just like US Air Guitar's Dark Horse. Well, not just like it. For one thing, there's no second round! It's just scores from the first round, and that's that. Also, just like in the actual world championship judging, there are 5 judges rather than 3, and the high and low scores are discarded. This Dark Horse is not an invitational, like the US one is, but rather a walk-on convention.

This year, not only was Mean Melin walking on to try and win it all, but so were Thunderstroock, Cannonball Mavin, and having timed her European vacation just right, Baberham Lincoln.

The women, unfortunately, did not get the good side of the judges, both getting at least one score in the 4 range - it seemed like there were at least two judges who always gave significantly lower scores than everyone else - and sadly did not advance.

However, along with a Russian who Lt. Facemelter, in his very helpful live-tweets, described as the end result if Airistotle and Facemelter had a baby, a Belgian who incorporated explosions, and longtime competitor Heart Buckboard from Germany, the World Dark Horse saw Thunderstroock advance... and Mean Melin won the evening! So we'll be seeing four US Air Guitar competitors tomorrow night - Thunderstroock, Mean Melin, Lt. Facemelter, and of course the defending world champion, Nordic Thunder!
