Well, Boston, you fought well, but Portland beat you in the end. Dreams: they come true for other people.
That's right: as you might have heard, the 2015 US Air Guitar Nationals are going to be held in Portland, OR, which is our... what's the opposite of a sister city? A nemesis city? A... nemecity? Anyway, that's where it will be, and the big game is on August 8th. The small game (?), namely the Dark Horse, will be on August 6th.
Despite all my militiating for Boston, Portland is a fantastic city where I nearly went to college, and which will no doubt send crippling waves of homesickness through me the entire time (due to its similarity to Vancouver - by which I mean the real one in Canada, not the BS one next door to Portland). They have awesome bars and food, and there are some kick-ass air guitarists there, so I have no doubt they'll show everyone a good time. I don't begrudge them the win - I just begrudge them the win this year. Will I get over it in time to have fun at Nationals? STAY TUNED.
In all seriousness, though, announcing where Nationals is after only 5 qualifiers has got to be some kind of land-speed record. Boston is ready to megabed the Pacific Northwest. Snap up some plane tickets post haste, and we'll see you there.
