The NYC US Air Guitar Qualifier took place the same night as the Boston one (Boston is always at the same time as something else, although usually it's Kansas City for some reason). While it was a bit of a bummer that people had to decide to go to one or the other, rather than jumping on the Fung Wah bus and doing both, it did increase the ambient amount of air in the world that night. That's scientific fact.

Following hot on the heels of Kansas City, Chicago's US Air Guitar Qualifier took place on the following night. The contrast between the two was marked - KC was pretty easy for everyone else to keep track of and even had a livestream, where Chicago's was in a subterranean venue and no one's phone had service. KC had what has to be a record number of competitors with 21, where Chicago had about 8. But the rock was not diminished by the smaller scale.

What's that? "Recap" and not "second-hand recap"? Well, I wasn't technically there, but they had the livestream running so apart from the first few air guitarists, who were outrageously blurry (like, indistinct gobs of light level of blurry), I was able to see the whole thing!
